Abstract
The anterior cruciate ligament is the most vulnerable knee structure to be injured during sports. A lot of new methods of reconstruction techniques are introduced, but there is question whether it is possible that people can return to pre-injured state after reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament. In 357 cases who had undergone reconstruction, we studied 43 patients who had undergone reconstruction with Auto bone-patellar tendon-bone after injury of anterior cruciate ligaments in sports. We evaluated clinical status with Lysholm score and IKDC grading system. Mean Lysholm score increased from preoperative 63.5 points to postoperative 92.3 points. With IKDC grade, 21 cases(48.8%) were grade A, 20 cases(46.5%) were grade B, and 2 cases(4.7%) were grade C, and there was no grade D. Although more than 95% patients were able to return to pre-injured sports activity, half of them limited their activity for fear of reinjury. So, after reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament, improvement in muscle power of thigh was important to return to pre-injured sport activity.
